Roasty Toasty

We are off to a mild start to what will turn out to be a hot day for September, yes, September. After reaching 84 degrees yesterday we are on our way to 90, or even a little above in some spots. We will be sweltering in the sunshine pretty much all day long. I say pretty much because there is a weak upper level weather disturbance slowly drifting up this way from the northern California coast area. Its arrival late this afternoon, at the hottest part of the day, and the amount of moisture available should trigger some thnderstorms over the mountains areas, and we may see something of that nature in Spokane this evening. These guys will be widely dispersed, so only a few spots will actually get rain and hear the thunder. All of this will get out of the way by tomorrow morning and we will be rising up to near 90 again on Wednesday. Things will start cooling off on Thursday into the weekend, and with a large low pressure system moving slowly in from the west we will be seeing increased chances for showers late Friday into Saturday. Temperatures will be back down into the 70s this weekend too.

At the church today the roof trusses are going onto the church section of the building, and brick work continues on the tower that the steeple will be placed on top of. The windows should also be going into the school wing, and 6 inches of gravel is being put down in the parking lot. The blacktop should be in at the end of the week. There is certainly a lot happening, and a lot of opportunities for volunteer hammer-jockeys. With the church building set to be enclosed soon we are hoping to have our first Sunday services in it in a couple of weeks. Stay tuned for more on that.
