The Dead Of Winter

Now that we are well past the holidays, the Christmas decorations are put away for another year, and the college football bowl games are just about over (at least I hope they are), it is the time of the year that I call the dead of winter. From mid January through early February there just isn't a whole lot going on, so you have to make for your own excitement. As age continues to advance it seems that this gets a little bit harder. This is the time of year that you really notice how short and dark the days are. This is the time of year that you really notice how lousy the weather is. Ahh...but this year we are getting a break. The weather isn't all that bad. The days are still short and mostly gray, but the weather has been, and looks like it will continue to be, pretty easy on us. Throughout this week we will be seeing mostly rain rather than snow. Temperatures will be above normal rather than below freezing, and the streets and highways will be pretty easy to navigate. The wettest weather will be coming along on Tuesday, with occasional light rain showers and drizzle at other times. High temperatures will be close to 40 degrees all the way into the weekend, with lows in the low to mid 30s.
