It was up and out early this morning as Kay and I attended a breakfast sponsored by the local camps of the Gideons. They are the folks that distribute Bibles to just about everyone everywhere. I am sure you have seen their work in hotel night stand drawers. I may fall asleep at my computer, perhaps even in the middle of this message, as the amount of food available was staggering (at least I was staggering after consuming much of the food that was available). I am now back at my post, and back to work, with a full plate (pun intended) stacked up for the rest of the day, culminating in a freshman boys basketball game at 5:30 this evening.
That snow that came down very briefly yesterday stacked up to a whole 9 tenths of an inch out at the airport. That brings the seasonal total to 12.8 inches, so we have broken through the 1 foot barrier. In our neighborhood it was all gone before noon, we got a little less than most other spots, and the entire town was devoid of any snow cover by the early afternoon. Today is just on the cloudy side, and we should get near 40 this afternoon. Sunshine is looking more promising for tomorrow. Later in the week the rains will return with temperatures continuing to run about 8 to 10 degrees above average. Looking farther down the road...a long way down the road...the 3 month outlook for February through April calls for above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation. I don't disagree with that in the least, as it is a continuation of what we have had, and El Nino, which is behind all of the warmth thus far, will continue to be the dominating factor in determining what the weather will be right through spring. In fact, even farther down the road, the summer is likely to be hotter and drier than normal as well. I say...bring it on!
