The calendar says that it is the middle of January, but the weather continues to resemble the middle of March. There isn't a hint of snow on the ground around the metro area, even most of the snowplow berms are now gone, and the temperatures continue to be well above average. What's more is that there is no imminent end in sight to all of this. I look at it as, everyday that we avoid winter now is one day closer to really getting to spring. The next couple of days, today and tomorrow, will be drier than it has been, but we still might get a few spits and sprinkles. More rain will be rolling in for Friday night into Saturday, and showers are expected at times on Sunday too. Daily high temperatures will mostly be in the lower 40s, right through most of next week, and overnight lows will mostly be above freezing. Right now the normal high is 32 degrees, and the normal low 21.
Yesterday, Beth's birthday, went quite well. I think that she really enjoyed the day. We had lunch at Tomato Street, her favorite restaurant, went to a movie, The Princess and the Frog, and in between all of that did some shopping where we got her a couple more gifts. The shopping part was where I struggled a bit, but at DSW Shoes they had some nice comfy chairs in front of a big screen TV tuned to ESPN, so I managed to endure. I will try to post a couple of pictures of the celebration this evening.
