Rising up this morning and looking out the window brings back memories of winters past. It is not that there is any snow on the ground, perish the thought, it is just that the fog has settled back in overnight and the gloom is another typical aspect of winter in the Inland Northwest. Along with the lack of snow and the warm temperatures, this winter has been noteworthy in the lack of the usual dense fog as well. Last night, as I exited the University High School gym following 2 freshman basketball games, the car was covered with frost. It was just a bit after 9pm. Have you ever tried to drive a frosty car from a cold start while sweating like a pig? You can scraped the frost off of the exterior of the windows, but the condensation on the inside makes it impossible to see for a good 10 minutes.
Today is going to be another day on the run, both literally and figuratively. I start on the tennis court in a few minutes, then run to work, run up and down to the basketball floor for 2 games, run to choir practice, and the time it is all over I will drag myself home. Another day in the life of Brian. As I sit here this morning I am envious of bears, and their opportunity to hibernate in the winter.
